We first learnt about the disastrous effect of fast fashion during the summer of 2018 after watching the award winning documentary ‘The True Cost’. Sitting in Hyde Park in London on a warm summer afternoon, chatting about sustainable clothing brands, we realised something was missing.

Whereas most sustainable clothing brands are going for the practical, minimal, basic and sometimes genderless look, we want to associate sustainable clothing with uniqueness, quality, elegance and femininity.

We got so excited about our ideas and designs that we couldn’t stop talking about it. There was nothing left to do but start! We spent months learning about sustainable textiles, design and pattern cutting. And when we were ready, we decided to base our brand in Peru. This is because South America has an innovative and growing eco-fashion industry, which we knew would provide plenty of opportunities to combine social and environmental sustainability.

We decided to partner with Incalpaca, a Peruvian sustainable Alpaca Wool supplier that produces incredibly soft fabrics, and with Ecobotoes, a Brazilian producer of sustainable buttons and buckles. Incalpaca not only respects workers' legal rights but also provide them with free medical services, legal advice, student grants for workers' kids, a cooperative shop where workers can buy essential products on credit and many social events.

Alpaca is a more hollow fiber than sheep wool so it has more space to trap in heat which makes it naturally warmer than other types of wool. This makes alpaca wool 3 times more insulating than sheep's wool. It doesn't have lanolin, the agent which makes sheep wool itchy at times, and it's therefore much softer and 100% hypoallergenic. The hollow fibers naturally push the water away, the water essentially evaporates as a result of the structure and warmth of the alpaca fiber. So, while alpaca is not waterproof, it is considered water-repellent. It is also naturally windproof! It has 23 different shades of natural colors and also reacts well to natural dyes, thus do not entail the usage of harmful toxic chemicals. It's all natural and biodegradable! Hence, our coats approach to fabrics is simple, all our chosen textiles are either biodegradable or recycled.
