TAWAST is a wonderful slow fashion brand born in Finland in 2019 by Milla Tawast, offering a minimal and timeless range to go from one season to another. She strongly believes that we shouldn’t exploit humans, animals or our planet for the sake of fashion.

Every TAWAST piece goes through Milla’s hands from the designing and pattern making to the manufacturing and packaging. That means less transportation, no back and forth with a factory. All the garments are made to order by herself so they don’t produce more things into the world than there is a use for.

At the TAWAST studio the waste in production is minimized and the paper, cardboard and occasional unavoidable plastic is properly recycled. A lot of the studio equipment is bought second hand. TAWAST donates 5% of each sale to animal sanctuaries. They have personally visited these places and witnessed the amazing work they do to help animals in need.

100% Organic & Natural Materials

TAWAST does not believe in taking advantage of animals. No animal derived materials like wool, silk, leather or fur are used in their products.

Currently, they use 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. The organic cotton is grown in Benin, Tanzania and India. Spinning, weaving, dyeing and washing of the fabric is done in La Loire, France. TAWAST also uses 100% non-certified organic cotton. This yarn is handmade by an artisan family in Kerala, India. The yarns are dyed by hand and the weaving is done by hand on small power looms.

Their jersey fabric is made of 100% GOTS certified organic linen. The flax plant is grown in Normandy, France. The fabric is made in Germany; the linen is spun, knitted then dyed in the same factory.

To minimize fabric waste the scraps leftover from cutting are used for small accessories such as hair scrunchies. Your items are mailed in plastic-free packaging. The packing materials are recycled and/or recyclable.
